What is Brass Metal?
Brass is a popular alloy of both copper and zinc, possessing low friction and acoustic properties. Among other things, this makes brass metal particularly popular when it comes to making musical instruments.
Because of its resemblance to gold, brushed brass sheet metal is also commonly used for decorative purposes. It is great for jewellery making, decorative applications, model making and brass worktops. In recent years, warm tones like brass, bronze and rose gold have become increasingly popular in home design.
Brass square tube
Brass Square hollow sections or brass box sections as well as brass rectangular hollow sections or brass rectangular box sections are commonly used in many commercial and industrial applications. They are produced to give good strength and weldability. We have a large range of both hollow brass sections available from stock in a choice of lengths, widths and thicknesses, but if you don't see the specification you require please call our sales team. Our brass box section is supplied in mill finish but we are able to supply in either a satin finish or bright polished finish. We have a range of imperial and metric size options with our smallest brass square sections starting at 1/2’’ square (12.7mm brass square section.) The wall thickness of our range is typically 1.5 to 1.6mm and the size options provides indicate the external width of the square section. We are able to provide custom lengths to our customer requirements but for convenience offer common lengths starting from 2.5m long sections.
What is brass square section used for?
Brass box sections are used for the manufacture of furniture and high end interior fit outs. The ability to weld/solder brass and finish to a beautiful gold like finish gives to huge appeal. The ease of which brass square sections can be drilled and cut, makes it an ideal choice for commercial renovations. All of our brass square tube is grade CZ121, ideal for machining, electrical conductivity and good resistance to corrosion.
